“For a seed to achieve its greatest expression, it must come completely undone. The shell cracks, its insides come out and everything changes. To someone who doesn’t understand growth, it would look like complete destruction.”

— Cynthia Occelli

About Brittany

I was born and raised in Chattanooga, Tennessee in a loving and complicated blended family. My first introduction to therapy was in my early teens, a time when my greatest influences were The Golden Girls and Designing Women, the charismatic evangelical church, many strict ballet teachers, encouraging librarians, and more talented and empathetic educators than I can count.

I attended the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, where I earned a Bachelor of Science in Communications, Public Relations and a Minor in Business. In 2010, I moved to Nashville to work in communications and marketing. In 2013, I became a 200 hour Registered Yoga Teacher, and began teaching public and private yoga classes.

The practice of yoga, as well as my own continued therapeutic journey, led me to pursue a Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy from Trevecca Nazarene University. I was immediately drawn to the systemic lens through which marriage and family therapists approach our work.

After graduating and moving back to Chattanooga in 2018, I began my career in community mental health as a school-based therapist. I worked primarily with elementary age students who experienced challenges regulating their emotions and behaviors. I also continued to teach and practice yoga, as well as complete my 300 hour yoga teacher training.

I live in Chattanooga with my 90 pound lab-pit mix, George. We go on daily walks, where he enjoys saying hello to our neighbors while I listen to podcasts ranging in subjects from popular culture, politics, trends in therapy, and reality television.

I opened my private therapy practice in 2022, and teach public group yoga classes at Yoga Landing and The Sports Barn.
